Selection for Prohibition Constable, Jail Warder, and Mobile Squad Constable follows three stages, governed by the respective Bihar cadre  recruitment rules for each post:

Government Exam Prep

1. Written Examination - candidates scoring below 30% are not considered for the next stage.
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) - includes physical measurements and efficiency tests such as running, long jump, and high jump.
3. Document Verification - for candidates who qualify PET/PST.

Candidates were shortlisted for PET/PST at up to five times the number of vacancies in each reservation category, reducible where enough eligible candidates were not available. A total of 19,681 candidates have been shortlisted for this stage, spread across three separate merit lists:

• List 1 - Ex-Servicemen candidates qualified for PST.
• List 2 - Home Guard candidates qualified for PET.
