Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is recruiting Enrolled Persons through the Coast Guard Enrolled Persons Test (CGEPT) for Batches 01/2027 and 02/2027. ICG CGEPT Eligibility Criteria

Online applications are invited from male and female Indian citizens possessing the educational qualifications and age prescribed for recruitment as an Enrolled Person in the Indian Coast Guard through the Staff Selection Commission. A candidate may apply for only one post.

ICG CGEPT Application Fee

Candidates, except those entitled and desirous of applying in vacancies for the SC/ST category, are required to pay a fee of Rs. 550/- (Rupees Five Hundred and Fifty Only). SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of the fee. The fee is paid online through net banking or by using Visa/Master/Maestro/Debit Card/UPI. The E-admit card will be issued for the examination only to those candidates who have successfully paid the examination fee and who are entitled to waiver of examination fee.

ICG CGEPT Selection Process

The selection is based on performance in Stage-I, Stage-II, Stage-III and Stage-IV, meeting the laid down medical standards during medical examination and the number of vacancies available for the post in the respective batch. Qualification in Stage-I, II, III and IV is compulsory for recruitment in ICG.

Stage-II: Recruitment Process at Recruitment Centres

Stage-II is held at Recruitment Centres specified by ICG. Based on performance in the Computer Based Online Examination and the handling capacity of ICG Recruitment Centres, candidates will be shortlisted for Stage-II, and an E-admit card will be issued. Stage-II of candidates shortlisted for CGEPT-01/27 and CGEPT-02/27 batches will be held conjointly. To download E-admit cards, candidates are required to upload additional documents as mentioned in para 7.5 and select a preferred date and centre in a given period. Failure to upload additional documents or submit date/centre choice within the time frame promulgated by ICG will lead to cancellation of candidature. Allocation of date and centre for Stage-II exams will be on “first come first serve” basis. Candidates will be given the option to select date and centre; date and centre where seats are available will be shown to the candidates for selection. The duration of Stage-II is 1-2 days and it involves the following examination, which are only qualifying in nature:

Candidates declared fit in the recruitment medical examination at Stage-II recruitment centre may be disqualified in document verification during the further scrutiny of the documents by ICG, as document verification is carried out at multiple stages even after the conduct of Stage-II and prior to publishing the final merit/result.

Final Merit List for Stage-III

The merit list (zone-wise and category-wise) for Navik (GD) male and all India (category-wise) for Navik (GD) female, Yantriks, Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I will be prepared for candidates who have qualified all the Stages and meeting the requisite criteria as mentioned in the advertisement. Shortlisting of candidates for the post of Navik (GD) in either CGEPT-01/27 or CGEPT-02/27 batch will be based on order of merit and available vacancies. The candidates’ order of merit will only be based on marks scored in Stage-I, qualification in all phases of Stage-II and number of available vacancies. Assessment test marks shall not form part of the final merit but shall be used only for breaking a tie. The tie-breaking rule in merit, in case of two or more candidates having the same marks in Stage-I, is as follows (wherever tie is broken next stage will not be proceeded):

  1. Candidate older in age will be higher in merit.
  2. Candidate scoring more marks in the Assessment Test.

Stage-III: INS Chilka

Candidates who qualify Stage-I and Stage-II and stand in merit as per the vacancies available will be provisionally shortlisted for reporting at INS Chilka and will be issued a provisional E-admit card. Stage-III will be conducted separately for each cadre in the respective batch, i.e. Navik (GD) and Yantriks in CGEPT-01/27 and Navik (GD), Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I in CGEPT-02/27 batch. The duration of Stage-III is 1-2 days. INS Chilka is a Naval training establishment; verification procedure at training base is in vogue applicable for ICG candidates. Stage-III involves the following:

Stage-IV: Training Base

Stage-IV shall comprise verification/authentication of original educational and other documents submitted during Stage-III with the concerned Boards/Universities/State Government authorities. A candidate will be terminated from service if documents are reported as not genuine by the respective Boards/Universities/State Government.

ICG CGEPT Medical and Physical Standards

The medical examination is conducted by authorised Medical Officers of Defence Forces as per the medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to Enrolled Persons on entry.

HeightMinimum height standard for male candidates is 157 cms and for female candidates is 152 cms. Height standards may be reduced by up to 05 cms for candidates having domicile of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Kumaon and Sikkim. Relaxation of 05 cms is also applicable to Gorkhas. Height standards may be reduced by up to 02 cms for candidates having domicile of Ladakh, Lakshadweep & Minicoy Islands and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
ChestChest wall should be well proportioned and well developed. Minimum chest circumference for male candidates should be 77 cm with chest expansion of at least 05 cm. For female candidates, the chest should be well proportioned with minimum expansion of 05 cm.
WeightProportionate to height and age as applicable for ICG.
HearingThe candidate should have normal hearing, i.e. able to hear focused whisper from a distance of 06 m by each ear separately.
TattooPermanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body. However, certain concessions are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal areas communities as declared by the Govt. of India. For other candidates, permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand.
DentalShould have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
General HealthCandidate should be fit for the Armed forces, must conform to the medical standards, have normal anatomy without loss or deformity of any appendages, and be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or communicable disease, infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically and mentally fit to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain places.
GenderAny candidate if found to have predominant characteristics of the opposite gender as evident on external physical examination will be rejected as unfit. Any candidate having undergone gender reassignment surgery will be declared unfit.
Pregnancy (female candidates only)Any candidate, if found to be pregnant shall be disqualified and her candidature will be rejected.
Gynaecological Examination (female candidates only)The examination covers external genitalia, hernia orifices and the perineum. Any evidence of stress urinary incontinence or genital prolapse outside introitus shall lead to disqualification of the candidate.

How to Apply for ICG CGEPT Recruitment 2026

Applications will be accepted online from 06 October 2026 (1100 hrs) to 21 October 2026 (1730 hrs). Candidates have to log in to www.ssc.gov.in and follow the instructions for registering themselves.

  1. Visit www.ssc.gov.in and follow the instructions for registration. Remember the registered E-mail ID and mobile number, as the same would be encrypted in the application form. If the candidate forgets the E-mail ID or mobile number, it would not be possible to log in to the candidate’s dashboard, and neither would he/she be able to download E-admit card or see his/her result. ICG would not be responsible for this.
  2. Abide by the guidelines for filling the application form as mentioned on the registration portal and by the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) available on www.ssc.gov.in.
  3. Apply for only one post. If a candidate fills multiple applications during a particular recruitment cycle, only the latest filled application submitted by the candidate shall be considered and all previously filled applications will be rejected. However, the examination fees for multiple applications filled will not be refunded.
  4. Upload the compulsory documents listed below, in the specified format.
  5. Pay the examination fee online (except SC/ST candidates, who are exempted).
  6. Use the print preview option before the final submission of the online application to check that all details (such as Name, Date of Birth, Parent’s name, subject wise marks/CGPA, validity date of documents and category certificate details) are correct.
  7. Candidates will also be provided with an edit/correction window for a duration of 02-03 days to edit/correct only a few fields in the online application. Candidates are to use the edit window when provided to correct mistakes made while filling the online application.

ICG CGEPT Apply Online: Compulsory Documents at the Time of Application

Only scanned copies of the original documents shall be uploaded; photocopies or self-attested photocopies shall not be accepted. All documents uploaded must be in Hindi or English; if a document is in any other language, both original and English translation must be uploaded. Applications with blurred photograph, signature and uploaded documents will be rejected during document verification. The complete document is to be scanned and uploaded (e.g. if a Date of Birth Certificate or Category Certificate or Identity proof has two or more pages, then all the pages are to be merged in one file and uploaded in the online application).

Documents to be Uploaded if Shortlisted for Stage-II

SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS applicants availing their respective quota must have the address in the category certificate the same as the current or permanent address mentioned in the online application. The EWS certificate shall be as per Govt. of India format. The OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate should bear QR/bar code for appointment under post under the Govt. of India and should specifically mention that the candidate does not belong to person/sections (Creamy Layer) as mentioned in relevant government orders. Additionally, OBC candidates must produce a valid and latest OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate.

Aadhaar Card and mobile number linked with Aadhaar Card is mandatory at Stage-III for opening of bank account and generation of Permanent Retirement Account Number.

Training: Basic training for CGEPT-01/2027 will commence in May 2027 and for CGEPT-02/2027 in November 2027 at INS Chilka, followed by sea training and professional training in allotted trade. Branch/trade will be allocated as per requirement of service and performance during basic training. Candidates are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE if their progress (including academic) or conduct is unsatisfactory at any time during training. Further, at any stage of training or service, if the online application or any document furnished by the individual is found to be falsified, the individual shall be liable to be discharged from ICG service.
