CVRDE Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must have passed out from an ITI duly recognized by NCVT/SCVT, as per the Gazette Notification of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in a trade of minimum two years' duration - except for Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), Painter, Plumber, Welder, and Food Production, which are exempt from this two-year duration requirement. Only candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible; private candidates are not eligible.

• Maximum age - Unreserved (UR): 27 years
• Maximum age - OBC: 30 years
• Maximum age - SC/ST: 32 years
• Maximum age - PWD: 37 years

CVRDE Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted based on marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination, followed by a Walk-In Interview. Selected candidates will be given their joining letter on the spot at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai-600054. It is clarified that no employment is guaranteed to apprentices on completion of their training, as selection and training are strictly under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Additional eligibility notes: only candidates who passed the qualifying exam in 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible - those who passed earlier than 2023 are not eligible. Candidates whose results were not declared by 30-08-2026 will not be considered for training, though a provisional certificate is acceptable at the time of joining, with the final NCVT/SCVT certificate to be submitted later. Expired OBC certificates will not be accepted.

• Caste certificate, if applicable

How to Attend the CVRDE Walk-In Interview

1. Complete mandatory registration on the NCVT/SCVT MIS portal at https://ncvtmis.gov.in and note the registration number.
2. Report to the CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai-600054 venue on 08-09-2026 or 09-09-2026, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
3. Carry all required original documents along with photocopies for verification, including the NCVT/SCVT registration number.
4. Candidates will be shortlisted on the spot based on ITI marks and interviewed the same day.
5. Candidates will be informed of their selection status on the spot, and selected candidates will receive their joining letter immediately.

• Duration of training will strictly follow the Apprentices Act, 1961, the Apprenticeship Rules, and their amendments from time to time.

• Selected candidates must produce a valid police verification certificate at the time of joining, from their place of last residence or permanent address.
