A total of 772 vacancies have been announced for Rural and Urban Home Guard posts through the Deoghar Home Guard Recruitment 2026.

Candidates aged 19 to 40 years as on 01 January 2026 who are permanent/ordinary residents of the relevant Deoghar block or urban area and have the required educational qualification are eligible to apply for these Home Guard vacancies. Rural Home Guard candidates must be at least 7th class pass, while Urban Home Guard candidates must be Matric (10th) pass. Deoghar Home Guard Recruitment 2026 - Overview

An important note from the official notification: enrolment as a Home Guard is not a salaried government job or a means of livelihood. Griha Raksha Vahini is a voluntary organisation, and Home Guards are its volunteer members who receive a duty allowance, at government-prescribed rates, only for the days they are actually deployed on duty. Only candidates willing to serve the nation on this voluntary basis are expected to apply.

Deoghar Home Guard Vacancy 2026 Details

The vacancies below are described in the notification as provisional in nature and may be revised (increased, decreased, or modified) without prior notice.

Reservation Provisions

• 50% of posts in both Rural and Urban Home Guard categories are earmarked for women.
• In the Urban Home Guard category, 50% of vacancies are earmarked for technically skilled candidates. If suitable candidates are not available in one sub-category (technical/non-technical), the vacancy will be filled from the other.
• Of the posts earmarked for women, 5% are reserved for eligible divorced/deserted/widowed women candidates. If such candidates are not available, these posts revert to the general women's quota.

Deoghar Home Guard Eligibility Criteria

Residence Eligibility

• Rural Home Guard: The candidate must be a permanent resident of the same block in Deoghar district from which they are applying, supported by a self-attested residence certificate issued by the competent authority.
• Urban Home Guard: The candidate must be an ordinary resident of the urban area of Deoghar district, supported by a self-attested residence certificate issued by the competent authority.

Deoghar Home Guard Age Limit

Technical Eligibility (Only for Urban Technical Home Guard posts)

Candidates applying for the technically skilled Urban Home Guard vacancies must be skilled in a technical field and either employed in a related office or self-employed with relevant technical knowledge. The notification lists the following as generally recognised technical categories: doctor, engineer, advocate, lecturer/professor, nurse, computer operator, typist, licensed driver (HMV/LMV), cook, carpenter, cobbler, washerman, barber, electrician, gardener, plumber, and similar trades. A technical proficiency certificate issued by the competent authority is required.

Deoghar Home Guard Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 100 (one hundred rupees only), payable through the online payment gateway on the official website at the time of submitting the application. The application is considered final only after the fee is successfully paid.

Deoghar Home Guard Salary / Allowance

As stated explicitly in the notification, this is a voluntary enrolment and not a salaried government post. There is no fixed monthly salary. Enrolled Home Guards receive a duty allowance at rates fixed by the government, paid only for the number of days they are actually deployed on duty as required.

Deoghar Home Guard Selection Process

Selection is conducted as per the Home Department, Government of Jharkhand notification No. 5442 dated 20.10.2014, through the following stages:

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Comprising a 1-mile race, high jump, long jump, and shot put, with marks awarded on a sliding scale for each event. Separate scoring standards apply for (i) Rural and Non-Technical Urban candidates, and (ii) Technically skilled Urban candidates, with separate benchmarks for male and female candidates in each.
2. Hindi Writing Ability Test: Qualifying in nature, for candidates who clear the PET. Rural candidates are tested at a 7th-class level and Urban candidates at a 10th-class level. Full marks: 100; qualifying marks: 30.
3. Technical Skill Test: Applicable only to technically skilled Urban Home Guard candidates who clear the PET and Hindi Writing Test. Qualifying in nature. Full marks: 100; qualifying marks: 30.
4. Merit List, Document Verification, Medical Examination & Police Verification: A merit list is prepared based on the notified provisions after all tests are completed, and selection is made against available vacancies. Selected candidates' certificates, medical fitness, and police character verification are checked before appointment.
5. Basic Training & Enrolment: Selected candidates undergo basic Home Guard training on the orders of JGRV Headquarters, Ranchi. On successful completion of training, they are formally enrolled as Home Guards and issued an enrolment certificate.
