SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria and Qualification

Eligibility for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is assessed as on the cut-off date of 07 October 2026, and covers nationality, educational qualification, and age.

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain specified countries with the intention of settling permanently in India (candidates in the latter categories require an eligibility certificate from the Government of India).

Candidates who have appeared for their Class 12 exam can also apply, but they must have the qualifying result declared on or before 07 October 2026. Only a declared result counts - a result "under process" does not meet the requirement.

SSC CHSL Age Limit

The age limit for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is 18 to 27 years, reckoned as on 01 August 2026. This means candidates born not before 02 August 1999 and not later than 01 August 2008 are eligible to apply. Age relaxation is available as per government norms.

SSC CHSL Application Fee

SSC CHSL Selection Process

Selection for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is through a Computer Based Examination conducted in two tiers.

Tier-I consists of objective type, multiple-choice questions only, with a total duration of 60 minutes and negative marking of 0.50 marks per wrong answer.

Tier-II

Tier-II is conducted in two sessions on the same day, comprising four sections: Section-I (Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning & General Intelligence), Section-II (English Language & Comprehension and General Awareness), Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test, qualifying in nature), and Section-IV (Skill Test/Typing Test for DEO and LDC/JSA posts respectively). It is mandatory to qualify all sections of Tier-II. There is negative marking of 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I and II.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026

  1. Visit the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in or the "my SSC" mobile application.
  2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website - OTR generated on the earlier website will not work here.
  3. Log in and fill out the SSC CHSL 2026 online application form.
  4. Opt for Aadhaar-based authentication during OTR, if desired, to simplify photo/ID requirements at the exam venue.
  5. Upload the required details and capture your photograph as per the instructions in the application module.
  6. Pay the application fee online (if applicable) before 08 October 2026.
  7. Submit the form and keep a printout for your records.
